Handmade Christmas

I often wish we could turn the clock back to a time when things were simpler. When Christmas was what it was meant to be. No rushing to all the stores loaded with stuff, just to clutter our lives and homes. What Christmas gift mean the most? I believe that they are the ones where you took time to make things for other and people made things for you. My children's handwritten notes and ornaments are saved and treasured. The Christmas's that my children and I spent time in the kitchen baking and decorating cookies for others and for our Christmas day celebration. The leisurely walks I took them on to look at Christmas decorations in the foreign store down town Evanston. The Christmas parties with International students Association. The handmade Christmas Ornament exchange. We didn't have a lot of money to spend but those where the best Christmas's ever.

heirloom handmade items

I am looking for ideas for displaying heirloom handmade items. This is an apron my husband grandma made- his mom's side. It's hard to tell but she used little bitty black stitches, that was sort of her signature of the quilt.

Knitting Looms

There are different sorts of Knitting Looms- ones I have are called Knifty Knitter by Provo craft. Which is the first picture. These are plastic.
Some of the looms come in wood. There are several books on loom crafts. These books are available on first site I mentioned:

Knitted coin/makeup purse

This is stage 1 of the small knitted purse I am making. I will make a lining for it, also sew a button on the front. It is a gift I am making. Mohair yarn I found at the thrift shop.

I will post finished picture probably tomorrow.

Dish or Bath Mitt

We've been having a discussion on the Purple Ink (writing list) about crotchet and knitting. This is a Dish/Bath Mitt I knitted with my knitting loom- Smallest the blue one, free pattern off an on line site. Not really fancy but I like something to do with my hands when I am watching a video or talking to dh in the evening.

handmade challenge-

I will send a handmade gift/thingy/ something to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this ‘Pay It Forward’ exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be, and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! And truthfully, it will most probably be later rather than sooner! The only thing you have to do in return is ‘Pay It Forward’ by making the same promise on your blog with a link back to me. So basically, if you comment, I’ll send you something crafty that I’ll make! Be sure to include your email. Once you sign up, copy and paste the above paragraph on your blog, and three other lucky people will be recipients of your handmade work.

New Year, New Projects

A friend sent me the link to make these little dolls. You use them as ornaments or clip them to a bag, or trade them. I wasn't feeling well from a cold, didn't feel like doing much I made these two.
